Anne Hathaway's Relatable Wardrobe in Locked Down
Anne Hathaway's Wardrobe in Locked Down Is Completely Relatable

My personal work-from-home dress code? Business on the top, pajama pants on the bottom. Admittedly, I've been veering more toward business casual on the top (hell, or even just casual) while keeping the Juicy Couture sweatpants pretty consistent on the bottom, but it's a look that has been working for me almost 10 months into sheltering in place, as I slog through Zoom meeting after Zoom meeting. Sometimes I'll even throw on some mascara, you know, for special occasions.

Clearly, Anne Hathaway had the same idea in her new movie Locked Down, donning workwear paired with mismatched bottoms, fancy pajamas that almost pass as button-downs, sweaters, and loungewear for days. In the film, Hathaway plays Linda, the CEO of a fashion brand that works closely with iconic department store Harrods. In the midst of lockdown, Linda considers leaving her husband, Paxton, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who has been furloughed and takes a job as a delivery driver to make ends meet. Frustrated by the rounds of layoffs and the powers that be at Harrods making her life increasingly difficult, Linda and Paxton decide to take things into their own hands. The move? Stealing a $3 million diamond from the Harrods vault and redistributing the wealth. You know, as one does.
Sure, the heist is the main plot point here, but Hathaway's super-relatable WFH wardrobe is a worthy costar. As she screams at the top of her lungs in frustration over the world at large in her quaint, opium-filled (yes, you read that correctly) backyard garden, clad in a cozy knit and sweatpants, I felt seen — the most seen I had felt in one of Hathaway's roles since Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada (OK, and let's be honest, pre-makeover Mia Thermopolis, too). Between her tie-dye tees teamed with sweats and her work-ready blazer and pajama combos, I simply couldn't get enough.

No spoilers, but even when Linda ventures out into the real world, her ensembles keep comfort top of mind: the black denim she dons for the heist scene is complemented by a textured black turtleneck, leather jacket, heeled ankle boots, and, of course, the requisite CDC-approved mask. Chic, comfortable, and functional. We love to see it!

Locked Down is now streaming on HBO Max. Fancy pajamas are totally optional, but encouraged.
