In the midst of holiday shopping for friends and family, I tend to forget about building my own wardrobe. Funny, I know, being that I'm a fashion editor and shopping is essentially my job. While I do own some LBDs I can repurpose for the season — cocktail parties, engagement parties, fancy dinners, etc. — I usually like to pick up some new, trend-worthy items, too. For 2019, we're seeing glitzy tights and silk co-ord sets take hold. Even though the holiday sections on your favorite sites are stocked with all things sparkly, comfort is actually key when you consider the materials these clothes are made of.
As I mentioned, I'm in the process of collecting gifts for all the important people in my life, and that's why I've got to cap off my personal spending with a budget. I decided on $500 and then went on my own mini spree, considering the affordable fashion labels that have spoken to me lately, whether it's because of the brand's price point or the wide range of sizes that are offered (hello, Universal Standard, thank you for being alive!). Ahead, see how I spent my money sensibly — I think I did a good job. Do you?
