A.P.C. Is Out to Change What You Think Is Sexy

"You'll be disappointed if you want something revolutionary." That's the disclaimer creative director Jean Touitou gave to the crowd gathered for A.P.C.'s Fall '16 presentation. That seemed true enough given the minimalist feel of the collection, the ease of the pieces at the core of the "effortless" Parisian vibe every woman I know is in constant pursuit of.

Still, it seems Jean is out to change some things — namely, our perception of what's sexy. In his world, that's chunky socks worn with sandals, as he explained to guests. His vision of sex appeal is a much more modest one, and I can't say I mind it. It's simple, but style conscious, pieces like slim-cut overalls and a camel sweater. As for the label's collaboration with athleisure brand Outdoor Voices, which he also debuted for Fashion Week, the looks are more wearable than "workout clothes;" he drove that point home, styling the tights with overcoats and knee-high boots. Incorporating any of them might just elevate your wardrobe to that of the French women we so often envy. It may not be entirely revolutionary, but it's definitely progress.
