Taylor Swift Might Be Giving Hints About Her Next Album With Her Outfits

It's safe to assume you've been there before: fresh out of a relationship, hurting a bit, and looking to make over your life or, better yet, your style. Taylor Swift — who often (and unfairly) makes headlines with her breakups, makeups, and short little flings — has been there too, and like the lady boss she is, she's a pro at the whole "single-girl style." When her love stories end, she's back expressing herself through fashion, developing a new signature look — something that typically carries over into her next amazing album.

This time around? Taylor's vibe is more "trendy" than anything, with chokers and over-the-knee boots making their way into her wardrobe. It could possibly mean that her next album will also be inspired by what's hot now — much like the hit she penned for her ex Calvin Harris, "This Is What You Came For" — rather than her usual sound. But it might also mean that Taylor's still trying to figure things out, finding herself (and her new look) during some time off.

Either way, scroll through to see how Taylor's style changed each time her relationships ended. Then check out the times she channeled Cher from Clueless with her outfit.

While we're not exactly sure when her relationship with Calvin Harris ended and Hiddleswift began, we do know that once her coupled-up days were over, Taylor decided to give her wardrobe a good ol' fashioned "single-girl" makeover. Currently, she's embracing trends like never before — chokers, over-the-knee boots, loafers, etc. — which is definitely a change for typically classic star. So what does this all mean for Tay's next album? Perhaps that she's truly paying attention to what's hot and "in" now — music included — ensuring her next big release is bona fide a hit.

Taylor's fling with the One Direction member was short-lived, but her single status definitely wasn't: she did the solo thing from January 2013 to March 2015, and saw plenty of style changes, haircuts included. There was one constant, however, and that was her love of baring skin. Cutouts, crop tops, thigh-highs that showed just enough leg — Taylor was into it all, giving off a sexy-sweet vibe.

Taylor was into classic, feminine pieces while dating Conor, and when things ended, she kept with it. The star continued to rock polka dots, fit-and-flares, and cropped trousers paired with flats, giving off a retro vibe that totally suited her.

Taylor's style post-Jake could be summed up in one word: stripes. Stripes on everything, from t-shirts to red carpet dresses, and it all carried over into her Red days. She also seemed to develop a thing for pleated skirts and wasn't afraid of piling on the layers.

Taylor Lautner seems sweet. John Mayer was definitely a bit edgy. So when her (basically) back-to-back flings ended, Taylor combined the two styles. She wore plenty of strapless fit-and-flares, but paired them with boots to give them an unexpected and less-girlie twist.

Taylor's relationship with Joe ended when she was still the new kid in the music mix, but one look at her photos and you can tell she truly embraced accessories. She stacked on bracelets, rocked numerous pairs of drop earrings, and even performed in a pair of leather gloves.
