'Tis the season to be jolly, but no holiday celebration is complete without the perfect outfit. And while fair isle sweaters and red designs are being rocked by the masses, Michelle Obama knows the perfect way to combine festive and fashion forward. For 2016's national Christmas tree lighting in Washington DC, the first lady went with something warm, black, and metallic: an embellished turtleneck top, which she then paired with black pants.

If Michelle's look is giving you a bit of déjà vu, perhaps it's because last year she wore something very similar, attending the same event in a gold-sleeved coat. Clearly she knows what she likes, and while both of these outfits would work for almost any occasion, wearing that hint of sparkle in December gives them that cheerful, holiday feel.

Scroll through to see Michelle's outfit — including her covetable gray coat — in full, then shop something to nail the noncheesy holiday look the power woman way.
