Here's How the Victoria's Secret Angels Prep For Fashion Week

Make no mistake, Stella Maxwell thinks being a Victoria's Secret Angel is awesome. "[There are] No misconceptions — it's probably just the most fun part of my job," she said with a ginormous smile when I talked to her at lunch. We were celebrating the new Victoria's Secret Dream Angels collection with a little party, and Romee Strijd was there, too. Both girls made one thing very clear throughout the two hours I spent with them: they are so much more than VS Angels.

"When do you fly out to Paris?" Stella leaned over the table to ask Romee while we were eating, a casual reminder that Fashion Month isn't over and bookings are still underway. There are plenty more Fall 2017 runways to walk in Europe. Being tied to the Victoria's Secret brand doesn't mean prepping for the annual show year round, it just means prepping for all the other gigs you've got lined up plus the annual show.

That's because most of these women, Romee and Stella included, model full time. Prep For the VS Fashion Show Is Totally Different Than Prep For Fashion Week

"The Victoria’s Secret [fashion show] is lingerie, so you want to be 'on top.' I work out a little more, make my diet a little more workout-appropriate, and make sure I have enough energy by sleeping a lot and drinking a lot of water. I try to keep myself moisturized and use body lotion. It’s more like the full package." — Romee Strijd

"The Victoria’s Secret show is so much more than just a fashion show — it’s a show with entertainers and music. It’s what we prepare for all year round, both physically and mentally. It’s an exciting show to do because it’s on TV and broadcast to every country in the world. At this point, because we’re all so friendly and close, it’s an experience we like to go through together: the 10 newest Angels who joined the older girls. We get excited to see who is getting what outfit, and we are so excited for one another. Fashion Week is much quicker. There’s a little bit of a family feel, but it’s much more serious and straight-up empowering." — Stella Maxwell

Both Romee and Stella Have Favorite Runway Shows They Walked in This Season

"Versace is a really important one for me. I love Donatella and how she is very involved in the cast and the whole collection. She’s there for every step. She does things for a purpose and there’s always a message behind the collection, so I loved that this season." — Stella

"I did Missoni, and [Angela Missoni] really wanted to send a message that was empowering for women. She gave a little speech and we were all wearing the pussycat hats. It was really powerful to all walk together, hear her talk, and send that message." — Romee
