Gigi Hadid's Eye-Opening Tweets Will Make You Think Twice Before Commenting on a Model's Weight

Gigi Hadid's shot down comments about her weight before, and now she's doing it yet again. The model released a series of tweets during New York Fashion Week, explaining that her body weight shouldn't be a topic of discussion for anyone but her. Gigi revealed she was diagnosed with Hashimoto disease (an underactive thyroid condition that causes your body functions to slow down) and has been undergoing treatments to help with that, as well as other health conditions. As a result, her weight is now much different than before, when she was "bigger" due to "inflammation and water retention."

"Over the last few years I've been properly medicated to help symptoms including those, as well as extreme fatigue, metabolism issues, body's ability to retain heat, etc . . . I was also part of a holistic medical trial that helped my thyroid levels balance out," she said on Twitter.

The star then continued to explain that although she is thinner, she's healthier on the inside and "is still learning and growing" with her body every day. A model's weight often becomes a topic of public discussion and it appears Gigi has had enough. She urged social media users to be nicer to one another, saying, "Use your energy to lift those that you admire rather than be cruel to those u don't." Her fellow model pal Kendall Jenner supported this comment with a retweet and "preach" response, followed by further support from Chrissy Teigen. Read on to see Gigi's full message, along with the reactions, ahead.
