Blake Lively Is Wearing Shorts in Winter — Did She Do It For the Gossip Girl Reference?

Blake Lively arrived on the scene of Good Morning America to promote her new film, The Rhythm Section. After having slipped into a glamorous Dolce & Gabbana look for a screening of the movie the night before, Blake pulled out all the stops for this early morning appearance on Jan 28, choosing to go with shorts. Yes, they were luxurious quilted Fendi shorts from the Spring 2020 runway, and yes, they came complete with a sequined checked jumper that drew attention to her sparkling pineapple hoop earring from APM Monaco, but were her legs cold?

Let me bring you back to 6 a.m. this morning when I was lying in my bed, considering going for a run, until I saw that the real feel was 29 degrees. At the time Blake was outside, it couldn't have been warmer than 35. But maybe I am the only one who gets hung up about chilly temperatures. Maybe Blake eyed that Fendi outfit and knew she had to have it — remember, she doesn't have a stylist and chooses her outfits herself — so she just went for it. Despite the season and the cold, Blake probably thought what we are all thinking: this schoolgirl ensemble pays homage to Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf in the best possible way.

So was it worth it? Aside from briefly posing for photos, the 32-year-old actress and mom of three probably didn't spend too much time outside. So maybe I should just get behind this Fendi moment and remember that Gossip Girl's style influence is a real and serious thing. What do you say?
