Pink Gowns and Outfits at the Grammys 2022
Celebrities Wore Pink at the Grammys as a Form of “Dopamine Dressing”
Pink was the color du jour at the 2022 Grammys. Celebs hit the red carpet wearing various shades of the rosy hue, from light pink to bright fuchsia.
Saweetie wore a Valentino spring 2022 three-piece ensemble consisting of a bow-adorned bralette, opera-length gloves, and a full skirt. Billy Porter opted for a pink sheer ruffled shirt with a long train and matching trousers from the same collection, telling E!'s Laverne Cox: "The color of the season, I hear, is fuchsia, and Valentino sent this over for me to wear from the runway."
St. Vincent wore a stunning pink sequined Gucci gown with voluminous ruffles, while Tinashe opted for a pink latex dress by GCDS. Travis Barker layered a pink Givenchy blazer over black separates, the darker hue matching his fiancé Kourtney Kardashian's Et Ochs dress. Justin Bieber wore a fuchsia beanie with his oversized Balenciaga suit, and host Trevor Noah opted for a baby-pink jacket by Gucci.
The hot-pink shade was a major trend on spring 2022 runways, and it carried into the fall season as well, showing up at Valentino's aforementioned all-pink show.
According to Cat Quinn, MAC Cosmetics' executive director of global trends, there's a psychological reason behind the sudden proliferation of pink. The shade, which psychiatrists call "Drunk Tank Pink," is tied to dopamine dressing — it has a calming effect, and people are drawn to that feeling after the uncertainty of the last two years.
