No Matter Your Beliefs, Nike's Inclusive Victory Swim Collection Will Help You Be Limitless

Nike is taking another step to make sportswear more inclusive for Muslim women. After releasing the industry-changing Nike Pro Hijab in Dec. 2017, the brand is back with another innovation: the Nike Victory Swim Collection. The collection includes the Nike Victory Full-Coverage Swimsuit, the Nike Victory Swim Tunic Top, the Nike Victory Swim Leggings, and the Nike Victory Swim Hijab, each created with the athlete in mind. After noticing a jarring lack of swimwear for diverse athletes, designers knew this was necessary. There's no reason that women shouldn't be able to enjoy water sports because of the swimwear available, so Nike stepped in.

"The more we listened, the more possibility we saw to serve female athletes in new dimensions," Nike creative director Martha Moore said in a press release. "As we continue broadening our vision for innovation, we're excited to inspire more women to see themselves in sport by thinking creatively and designing inclusively."

The sleek products will allow every swimmer, regardless of religious beliefs, to have a full range of motion underwater and feel like a complete badass. "This suit is going to take us to a different level," one swimmer said in a promotional video. Another added, "Because it's not even just Muslim women, a lot of women are modest as well."

Unlike the swimwear options currently on the market, the new Nike collection provides the necessary coverage many Muslim swimmers want and also offers serious functionality. The products are lightweight, breathable, and comfortable. The Full-Coverage Swimsuit and Swim Tunic Top each have a built-in sports bra with perforated cups. The Swim Hijab has a mesh pocket that keeps hair in place while underwater. Predictably, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Emirati figure skater Zahra Lari swims often for her training, and she applauded the new collection. "I feel super light and confident in this. It doesn't weigh you down, and it helped me swim better," she said in the same press release. "It's so different than any of the swimsuits I've ever seen, and I know I can wear this confidently."
