Sept. 10 is National TV Dinner Day, and the date just so happens to land on the cusp of Fall TV premieres. Since we're all guilty of hitting up our freezer for a fast and easy dinner (mac and cheese and TV do go together), we asked our editors to share their favorite frozen foods so that you can enjoy them in front of your TV, too!
There's nothing, I repeat, nothing that compares to Stouffer's Mac and Cheese. I had gotten so used to Kraft mac and cheese (delicious in its own way) that when I made homemade mac and cheese a few weeks ago I was struck hard by the realization that it tasted exactly like Stouffer's of my childhood. The homemade mac and cheese tasted like the frozen entree I had so much loved as a wee one. Either I need a new recipe, or Stouffer's just has that great cheesy taste down pat.

This bargain-basement meal — seriously, you can sometimes find boxes of it on sale for $1 — reminds me of the Tex-Mex I grew up on in El Paso, TX. It's not authentic. It's not even really "good." But it tastes great. Mix black beans and rice, a gooey sour-cream sauce, stringy, hot cheese that gets a little burned around the corners, and a kick of mild green chile and I am in.
I must admit, I love a good frozen burrito . . . even for breakfast. I've always been a fan of Evol burritos, but now that the Veggie Fajita Burrito comes with a packet of guacamole, I love them even more.

Char Siu Bao

In an ideal world, I'd eat dim sum every day (and not just for brunch), so I try to keep my freezer stocked with frozen, microwaveable char siu bao (Chinese barbecue pork buns) for a lazy but delicious dinner in a pinch. I usually get mine at an Asian supermarket, but Costco's are a solid second choice.
Trader Joe's Wild Mushroom and Black Truffle Flatbread is on my list of favorite foods ever. Once you've put it in the oven and your whole house smells like glory, it's impossible to believe that it was frozen to start with.
Pro tip: add a sunny side up egg on top for a flavor party in your mouth.
I'm lactose intolerant, and most dairy-free cheese substitutes don't cut it for me, but Amy's Macaroni and Soy Cheeze does a fantastic job of making soy cheese that's creamy, melty, and remarkably similar to the real thing.
