Red Velvet Peeps Review
We're All About One of the New Peeps Flavors — the Other, Not So Much
![]()
Just Born has been on a roll this year, releasing a slew of new Peeps flavors, including Pumpkin Spice, Caramel Apple, Candy Corn, and Mystery Bunnies and Chicks. The latest seasonal releases continue on the trend of creativity: Sugar Plum and Red Velvet. We tried both to see if they're worth your time; keep reading for the verdict.

Bad news first. Peeps Sugar Plum Dipped Marshmallow Chicks ($3) might look pretty with their dusting of edible purple glitter, but the positive attributes stop there. Way too sweet, they reminded us of grape medicine, and the icing bottom just seemed out of place.

We were a bit skeptical about Peeps Cream Fudge Dipped Red Velvet Marshmallow Chicks ($3) — would the flavor translate? How much food coloring was needed to tint them blood red? — but all doubts faded when we opened the package and the nostalgic aroma of cake mix filled the room. Somehow they managed to capture the magic of red velvet cake, with a light cocoa flavor and the characteristic tang of cream cheese frosting.
