New film releases can be streamed from the comforts of home, our closets and beauty cabinets can be upgraded without ever having to go in store, and thanks to services like Shipt, we can even have our groceries delivered straight to our doorstep — sans the usual headache of navigating aisles at Target or Acme.
Shipt is known as one of today's most popular grocery delivery services, revered by customers for its easy-to-use app, practical customization options, and wide variety of retailers. With one of Shipt's monthly or yearly memberships, users can curate their weekly grocery list, schedule delivery times, and even select backup products in case an item is sold out. The service offers a whole new take on shopping, all while giving its members more agency to monitor costs (you can see what you're spending in real time on the app) and eliminate an extra stressor from their weekly to-do lists.

On Using Shipt For Easier Shopping

"Although I live near a few small grocery stores, I don't have the same selection of products that I'm used to, having lived in the suburbs. I don't have my car in the city, so I appreciate that I can use Shipt to help me with my grocery runs, especially when it's a week when I need to stock up on heavier items. With Shipt, I can access grocery stores that offer my go-to brands and grocery staples even if they aren't walkable, and this all saves me time during my day. The app makes it easy to shop for all my kitchen essentials and produce because it mimics the aisles of a typical grocery store. I can save items that I buy often or restock weekly like organic bananas and Oatly oat milk, so the next time around I can just instantly add those. I also love that the app highlights deals on items I would be most likely to purchase so that I can save a few bucks.
Most of these delivery apps rely on shoppers to get the job done, and I've always had a great experience with the shoppers on Shipt. They are prompt about notifying me if something is sold out or not available and offer backups, and they take photos of the shelves in real time and send them over via text. You can also pre-add backups to products in the app. Most of my shoppers have picked out good quality produce too, which is something I was nervous about initially. I appreciate it when they let me know that they are done shopping and heading to my apartment, and when they confirm delivery by sending a picture of my groceries at my apartment door. On Using Shipt For a Busy Schedule

"These days, I find myself increasingly busy and struggling to balance all of my chores on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, when I'm overwhelmed, my diet is usually the thing that suffers the most, as I'm less motivated to prepare quality meals — and even less eager to shop for products from the grocery store to begin with. Whenever I find myself in these seasons, I'll often turn to grocery delivery services to remove the extra stress of grocery shopping, and this month, I relied on Shipt for the first time.
Like other food-delivery options, Shipt's services operate seamlessly through its app, allowing me to browse through hundreds of items at my local grocery stores, add products to my shopping cart, monitor prices in real time, and even receive in-app recommendations on other items I might like. The first time I used it, once my digital shopping cart was filled to my liking, I proceeded to place the order and schedule the delivery time, right down to the hour I wanted it dropped off at my apartment.
My personal shopper was incredibly prompt and made sure to communicate directly with me should any hiccups arise in the process — for example, if an item was sold out. Once delivered, my groceries were cold, fresh, and Shipt's app even saved my order information so that I could place it again the next week. The service has since been a lifesaver when I've felt overwhelmed and limited on free time — whether because of work or travel.
As someone who defers to reusable bags as opposed to plastic ones, I do wish they had better options on that front. And while I was able to shop out all of my usual groceries through Target, it's worth noting that Shipt doesn't work with all grocery stores, so there are some limitations. On How Shipt Compares to Other Delivery Services

"I usually order my groceries through DoorDash, but trying out a new delivery service is always a welcome change. There are also plenty of differences I noticed about Shipt. I do love that the app makes it clearly and consistently visible how much money you've spent as you add to your cart, and the checkout process is organized: you breeze through each section, from delivery instructions to credit card info, like a stack.
Similar to other delivery apps I've tried, you can input your substitution requests after you've placed your order. However, it feels like the backup options were more limited on Shipt. (I ordered from the same Acme I always order from via DoorDash.) Two caveats I must mention are that users are unable to reschedule an order after it's placed, unless you contact the app's customer service team. So, if you make a mistake or something comes up that shifts your schedule, be prepared to wait on a call to make adjustments. Finally, all communication from your designated shopper happens via text, instead of through the app, since there's no chat service built into Shipt.
