Starbucks's Summer Drinks Include a Frappuccino and Cold Brew That Taste Like Nostalgia

Starbucks is introducing a new pair of summer drinks inspired by nostalgia: the Chocolate Java Mint Frappuccino and White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew. When it came time to whip up the fresh warm-weather beverages, the coffee brand drew inspiration from familiar, fan-favorite snacks. The chocolate newness will be available across Starbucks locations starting May 9, along with other menu items like a bright yellow Bumblebee Cake Pop.

The Chocolate Java Mint Frappuccino has a mint chocolate-chip flavor that perfectly encapsulates the sweet, summer nostalgia the roastery was searching for, according to the Starbucks beverage development team. "Reminiscent of mint chocolate chip ice cream poolside on a warm summer day," the drink contains a new white-chocolate mint sauce that's described as "subtle and creamy," as well as crunchy Frappuccino chips and a swirl of rich mocha.

The White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew was also made with sentimental memories in mind, namely white-chocolate macadamia-nut cookies and tropical vacations. A summery twist on Starbucks's classic cold brew, the drink is sweetened with macadamia syrup and layered with white-chocolate macadamia cream cold foam. According to the Starbucks beverage development team, you can expect this drink to have a delicate balance of sweetness from the white chocolate, nuttiness from the macadamia, and saltiness from the toasted cookie crumble topping.

Although these two beverages are the buzziest additions to the summer menu, Starbucks has a few more items to help ring in the upcoming season, including a new line of colorful drinkware. As the days get warmer, coffee-lovers can also get their hands on two new single-origin Starbucks Reserve coffees, mini ready-to-drink Frappuccino beverages, and, of course, a brand-new cake pop.
