"Many people are moving away from traditional-looking kitchens with stained wood cabinets and wanting one of two looks: 1. a more modern sleek look or 2. a farmhouse look," Dave said.

What is the most popular cabinet hardware?
In terms of style, Dave said, "Hardware with simple, streamlined angles are popular, going along with that more modern look." And when it comes to the all-important decision of metal, he explained, "We are seeing more gold hardware being used again. Although silver or antique bronze is most popular still."

Any trends on their way out?
"Cabinets with stain that allows the wood grain to show through are being replaced with opaque finishes that do not allow the wood grain to show through," Dave explained.

What are the biggest color trends?
"White cabinets are by far the most popular, but many people are mixing white upper cabinets with lower cabinets of a different color, such as blue or gray," Dave revealed.

What about kitchen islands?
"It is also very popular to have white perimeter cabinets with an island of a different color. Shades of gray or blue are most popular," he said.
