Shay Mitchell's Cozy LA Home Is Perfect For the Parties She Never Wants to Throw

Shay Mitchell's Los Angeles home is just as stylish and chic as she is. The 32-year-old actress (and new mom!) recently opened her doors to Architectural Digest for a special tour with Chad Wood, her interior decorator and close friend. She said she rarely hosts parties or has people over, but with such a glamorous home, she might want to start making exceptions.
Shay shares her home with boyfriend Matte Babel and their baby daughter, Atlas. Almost every room features items from their travels or unique vintage pieces Chad picked especially for Shay. As is the case for most of us, Shay's place is constantly changing. From a just-painted fireplace to recently acquired throw pillows, she was refreshingly honest about the last-minute touches she made to her Mediterranean-inspired home right before the walkthrough. Hey, even celebrities want to spruce things up before guests come over!

The night before shooting her home tour, Chad and Shay painted the tiles around her fireplace to give it a crisp and clean look.

Shay said she used to have lavender velvet chairs surrounding a redwood table in her formal dining room — but she wasn't feeling it. She and Chad switched things up for a more neutral feel, and she credited these black wicker chairs for pulling everything together.

Before Shay moved into her home, she actually had a photo of its kitchen saved on her computer. "I remember that the agent sent me a link, and I realized the kitchen was the same that I had saved from years before," she told Architectural Digest. "Once I walked inside, I fell in love."

When she isn't traveling for work or pleasure, Shay spends most of her time in this cozy living space.

She had a huge emerald green velvet couch custom-made, which is ideal when tall friends like Chad come to visit.

Shay and Chad joked the bar area is her mom's "favorite place to hang out" in the house.

Baby Atlas's nursery actually prompted the whole redesign of Shay's house. What used to be Shay's junk room guest room became a place for her and Matte's daughter after her birth in October 2019.
