Throw pillows are a home-decor category that I can't bring myself to splurge on even though I am, of course, drawn to the most expensive options. I have been hunting for a pair of neutral, light-toned throw pillows for my charcoal linen sofa and finally found an affordable option at Target. Target's Woven Washed Windowpane Throw Pillow ($30) is part of the Threshold collection designed with Studio McGee, and it checks all of my throw-pillow boxes. I grabbed the last two pillows at my local Target and couldn't wait to get them home.

What I Love About Target's Woven Washed Windowpane Throw Pillow

At 24 inches by 24 inches, this is an oversize pillow, which is the perfect size for anchoring each corner of a sofa. It's a large enough size to lean on for full back support or snuggle up with for a nap or while watching a movie. The material looks and feels like a soft linen and has a woven windowpane grid design, so even though it's a solid, neutral color, there's still plenty of texture and visual interest. I love that the color is more of a creamy ivory than a pure white, which can sometimes look too stark. It blends in seamlessly with my other cream accents and helps to brighten the sofa's dark fabric.

With two little kids at home, I also appreciate that the covers are removable and washable, so I can easily stain treat them without having to worry about keeping the light-colored pillows pristine. The removable cover also means that I can switch out the stock insert that it comes with for my favorite down-alternative pillow insert to get that full and fluffy look. For the size, feel, aesthetic, and removable component, you really can't beat the $30 price tag, especially when you compare similar options at Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel.

What's Worth Noting About Target's Woven Washed Windowpane Throw Pillow

While the material looks like linen, it's actually a viscose, cotton, and polyester blend, which is why the cost is much lower. The zipper closure is easily concealed and allows you to slip them off to clean in the washing machine — just be sure to tumble dry on low to keep them looking their best. While the insert it comes with is fine, it doesn't give the fluffy volume that I like my throw pillows to have and can look a little flat. Considering comparable pillows from more expensive brands would cost at least two to three times as much for the cover alone, the inserts will work until I can eventually replace them.

Who Is Target's Woven Washed Windowpane Throw Pillow Best For?

This throw pillow is an excellent choice for anyone looking for an inexpensive, solid, neutral-colored throw pillow with great texture to add to a sofa, chair, or bed. If you're a fan of Studio McGee's aesthetic, you'll appreciate the simple and chic design.
