Selena Gomez Talks About Lupus on Ellen October 2015

Selena Gomez Talks About Her Lupus Diagnosis on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Selena Gomez made her first television appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show since announcing her lupus diagnosis and opened up about her treatment with chemotherapy. During the interview, the singer talked about not understanding the illness at first and hoping she never had to disclose the situation to the public. "It was my moment and I'm able to relate to people and I get it," Selena said before explaining to Ellen that she will have to deal with the autoimmune disease forever, adding she's doing well now.

Selena, who was victim to Ellen's scare tactics earlier in the show, also discussed being bullied about her weight earlier this year, calling the event "so degrading," and explained why she decided to take control of the situation by posting a self-loving Instagram photo, saying: "It's so annoying when I see it all over the place and everybody thinks they can bring me down. And my immediate response was I'm going to post a picture and I'm like 'I'm happy with me, y'all,' and that was going to be the story the next day."
