You've heard it before, and you'll hear it again: ponte sunscreen! And that goes for all skin tones. Yes, it sounds simple, and it is, but sometimes what's tricky is knowing which SPF is right for you. While it all comes down to preference, understanding the different types of sunscreen may also have an impact on the one you choose. Board-certified dermatologist, Bertha Dr. Baum, shares four elements to consider when choosing a sunscreen.

1) It needs to match your lifestyle. Depending on what you do on a day-to-day basis, you'll need to select the right SPF in terms of easy application, durability and re application. It's also important to take consistency into consideration. For example, if it's matte or shiny, or if you prefer it to feel smooth, have a tinted finish, etc.

2} Make sure to read the label and match it to your skin type. For sensitive skin, look for fragrance free and mineral SPF. For acne prone skin, look for noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic. For mature skin, look for antioxidants and moisturizers such as Hyaluronic Acid.

3) Remember that water resistant does not mean that it's waterproof.

4) Look for an SPF that is at least greater than 30 and broad spectrum. This means that it covers UVA/UVB.

In addition, Dr. Baum explains why SPF is necessary both outdoors and indoors as well. "Sunscreen is needed for both outdoors and indoors. While staying indoors, there are windows surrounding us, we have the blue light coming from our computers and mobile devices, as well as LED lights. In fact, sometimes even if we step outside for a minute or two, the short period of time is still enough to get exposed. During the Neutrogena® Sun Takes Lake Tahoe activation, I explained to the attendees how important protecting their skin is all year-roundnot only during the summer monthsfrom UV rays, ultimately helping prevent harmful after-effects, including skin cancer and hyperpigmentation.

There you go! To help make the process of finding thee one un poquito mas facil, below are some options we think you'll love to try.
