¿Y Ahora? Where Are the Cast of "East Los High" Today?

"East Los High" started as a web series. Created by Carlos Portugal and Kathleen Bedoya, the critically acclaimed show won the 2016 National Hispanic Media Coalition Impact Award for outstanding online series and eventually got picked up by Hulu. "East Los High" broke barriers with its diverse cast and storytelling. The series also touched on deep topics, everything from teen pregnancy to domestic violence to murder, and how they affect a community of youth.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition called the cancellation of the teen drama series a loss for diversity in entertainment. "The show was one of the few in the scripted digital realm that was created by Latinos and had an all-Latino cast and majority Latino writing staff," the NHMC said. "More than fifty percent of 'East Los High''s episodes were directed by Latinos, and the series became one of the Hulu's top 10 shows, helping draw one million unique visitors monthly to its Hulu Latino page."

"East Los High" gave viewers smiles, tears, and entertainment that could not be compared to anything else at the time. In addition to incredible plotlines, it brought on big Latinx guest stars like Prince Royce and Christina Milian. There were so many unforgettable moments, such as when the Bomb Squad rallied at graduation to have Eddie (Carlito Olivero) released from an immigration detention center. Or that time a pair of East Los High sisters became step-siblings with a coach and former student.

It's been five years since the sun set on "East Los High," and we're left wondering, y ahora? Where are the incredible cast of "East Los High" today?

Gabriel Chavarria as Jacob

"East Los High" heartthrob Jacob Aguilar makes you fall for him even when you're angry over the fact that he manages to get himself mixed up in a love triangle. When he isn't busy with football, Jacob is helping at his father's taquería. Since leaving his "East Los" days behind, Gabriel Chavarria has starred in season one of USA Network's "The Purge" and Netflix's "Selena: The Series," playing A.B. Quintanilla, Selena's older brother. Back in 2017, he was featured in "War For the Planet of the Apes."

Danielle Vega as Ceci

Danielle Vega as Ceci

Our dearest Ceci has one of the most beautiful character arcs and growth on "East Los High." She goes from mean girl to teen mom and eventually mentor to the new generation of the East Los Bomb Squad. Following the end of "East Los High," Danielle Vega became a mama in real life, starred in TV One's "Christmas With My Ex," and in 2023 appeared in "Chicago Med" as a character named Paola Rivera.

Alicia Sixtos as Maya

Maya is East Los High School's new girl with a dark past and who, despite a ton of bumps in the road, leaves East LA behind for a bit and makes her way to San Francisco to pursue her dream of becoming a chef. Alicia Sixtos did an amazing job of portraying this complex character. Sixtos has since been seen in smaller roles in CBS's "Training Day" in 2017 and Amazon's Original "Bosch" in 2019, and according to IMDb, she's in preproduction for an upcoming TV series titled "I Friggin Love You."

Tracy Perez as Vanessa

Tracy Perez as Vanessa

Vanessa learns some hard lessons. As the captain of the Bomb Squad in earlier seasons, she never likes playing nice. She's the villain you love to hate, until it's revealed Vanessa has contracted HIV. Tracy Perez did a phenomenal job of taking viewers through the ups and downs of what it was like being a teen living with a serious STD. We see Vanessa transform — even her relationship with Ceci improves majorly. Following "East Los High," the New York City-born actor appeared in three episodes of "Animal Kingdom" in 2018 as Mercedes Alvarez and starred in a film titled "An Ornament of Faith" in 2020, and her latest role was in the movie "Section 8" as a character named Liza Mueller.

Noemi Gonzalez as Soli

Noemi Gonzalez as Soli

You can't help but adore Soli! She's the ride-for-you-through-anything best friend. Though we only get to experience her in season one and then the season finale, Soli truly imprints on your heart. From that moment, it was evident Noemi Gonzalez would be a breakout star. After "East Los High," Gonzalez stepped into the daytime soap world, starring as Mia Rosales in 65 episodes of "The Young and the Restless," and appeared in the movie "The Tax Collector." Come 2020, the California native stepped into the role of Suzette Quintanilla on "Selena: The Series."

Jorge Diaz as Paulie

Jorge Diaz as Paulie

The topics on "East Los High" are often serious and very heavy, but we could always count on Paulie for that comedic relief. In his post-"ELH" life, Los Angeles native Jorge Diaz continues to build his portfolio of work. He dove into more animation voice-over acting with a role in Disney's "Elena of Avalor" and, most recently, four episodes of "Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight." In 2021, he starred as Elliot Olsen in HBO Max's now-canceled series "Head of the Class," opposite Isabella Gomez.

Alexandra "Alex" Rodriguez as Gina

Alexandra "Alex" Rodriguez as Gina

Oh, sweet Gina Barrios! When Gina first appears on "East Los High," she's dating possibly one of the worst boys in East Los. See, it isn't just that he's a jerk. He also passes on an STD to Gina, despite claiming she was his only partner. Gina eventually leaves that relationship and starts dating Eddie. She also winds up becoming one of the top dancers of the Bomb Squad. Despite a handful of roles after "East Los High" ended, Alexandra Rodriguez seems to have taken a step back from Hollywood — at least for the time being. Referencing her now-private Instagram page, Rodriguez has since married and is a mother of two.

Ade Chike Torbert as Caleb
Everett Collection

Ade Chike Torbert as Caleb

Gina's dance partner turns Eddie's nemesis (in the beginning) when it becomes obvious that Caleb had a crush on Gina. And maybe for a second there, Gina has a little crush, too. Can't say we blame her; Caleb has moves! After "East Los High," Ade Chike Torbert may not be doing a ton of dancing on screen, but he has been in various projects since, including an episode of "The Equalizer." His most notable recent role was in season one of "Power Book III: Raising Kanan."

Ashley Campuzano as Tiffany
Everett Collection

Another member of "East Los High"'s new generation, Tiffany is introduced in season two as Gina's friend, who also happens to be going behind Gina's back with her boyfriend. Her Instagram is filled with stunning travel photos, and she's been focused on AG Experiential, an experiential consulting company she launched in 2022.

Cinthya Carmona as Brandie
Everett Collection

Cinthya Carmona as Brandie

We're introduced to Brandie in season four when she comes in to audition to join the Bomb Squad. Brandie's eyes are set on Eddie, which causes a rift between her and Gina. While Venezuelan-born Cinthya Carmona may not have had the biggest storyline on "East Los High," she's gone on to work in various roles, both big and small. Carmona appeared in "The Tax Collector," an episode of "The Fix," a starring role in Netflix's "Greenhouse Academy" as Sophie Cardona, and 10 episodes of 2021's "Pretty Smart."

Andrea Sixtos as Jocelyn
Everett Collection

Andrea Sixtos as Jocelyn

Jocelyn is Camila's best friend, who honestly deserves to be appreciated far more than she is. Jocelyn struggles with being in love with Camila and, for a while, having to see Camila date her brother. Jocelyn is also always busy fighting the good fight; whether for LGBTQ+ rights or immigration, she is often at the front of the charge. Much like several other of her "East Los High" castmates, Andrea Sixtos continued to build her acting credits. She appeared in 13 episodes of The CW's "Arrow" and has two projects in the queue with no current release dates available. In addition to her acting work, Sixtos launched small business Majestic Soul Candles and is now a mom of three.
