The first Sunday of the year, "Dating Sunday," is usually the most popular day for online dating, including more activity on Match and boosts in new users, swipes, and matches on Tinder. Tinder's sociologist, Dr. Jess Carbino, says the reason for this spike is because many singles are looking for an SO for the New Year.
"The New Year is the perfect time to find love because so many singles are feeling refreshed and ready to put themselves out there," she said. "In the spirit of 'New Year, New You,' people are open to new experiences which may include focusing on their love life and joining an app, like Tinder, that fosters new connections."
New Year Day's fell on Sunday this year, becoming one of Tinder's most active days ever, but they're expecting luck on the following Sunday, also. Match predicts a 42 percent spike in new users on the day, while Tinder forecasts a 12 percent jump in potential matches, so get ready!
