Receptionist Tess (Melanie Griffith) gives her boss a great business idea but she doesn't get any of the credit for it. When her boss winds up in the hospital, Tess gets revenge by pretending to be her boss while she's out. She soon makes a business deal with an investment broker (Harrison Ford), whom she also falls for.
