High school senior Andie Walsh (Molly Ringwald) is content marching to the beat of her own drummer, spending her days with her best friend, Duckie (Jon Cryer), and taking care of her unemployed father. When one of the popular prep kids, Blaine (Andrew McCarthy), starts paying attention to her, it causes a shift in the high school dynamic, which is clearly segregated by not only popularity but also class. Throw in the fact that Duckie, as well as one of the meaner preppy boys (James Spader), is secretly in love with her, and Andie has her hands full trying to keep her head above water long enough to figure out her own feelings in John Hughes's 1986 rom-com, Pretty in Prink.
