"Elisa & Marcela" is a Spanish biographical romantic film based on the story of Elisa Sánchez Loriga (Natalia de Molina) and Marcela Gracia Ibeas (Greta Fernández), the first two women to have a same-sex marriage in Spain in 1901. They were able to do so only because Elisa had assumed the identity of a man. To really highlight the history that they made, the film is also shot in black and white. This movie's beautiful cinematography and color grading was definitely one of the highlights that critics praised when it first came out.
