Ariana Grande Is Helping Fans Register to Vote During Her Tour

Ariana Grande officially kicked off her Sweetener World Tour on March 18, but the music wasn't the only reason the night was so memorable. Attendees at the first show in Albany, NY were pleasantly surprised to see voter registration booths set up at the venue to encourage fans to register while waiting in line.

In an effort titled #ThankUNextGen, the 25-year-old singer has teamed up with Headcount, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that partners with musicians to promote civic participation at live music events. According to recent tweets from Headcount's official Twitter account, concert-goers can register at each of Grande's 50 US tour stops. "Together, we designed #thankunextgen, a program to help Ariana's fans make their voices heard," the organization wrote.

Grande is one of several artists who have recently encouraged their fans to get involved in politics. Taylor Swift broke her political silence with an Instagram post back in October, and subsequently caused a massive spike in voter registration in the days that followed. According to Vote.org, over 250,000 people — over half of which were between the ages of 18 and 29 — registered to vote within two days of Swift voicing her opinion to the 112 million followers she had at the time. The Democratic candidate from Tennessee that she endorsed was ultimately defeated during midterm elections, but it's still safe to say that celebrities can have an impact when they use their platforms.

Fans who won't attend any of Ariana Grande's upcoming shows can text ARIANA to 40649 to register, volunteer, contact legislators, or get a reminder on their 18th birthday to register to vote.
