Once Again, a GOP Lawmaker Proves He Has Zero Clue How Babies Are Made

During a March 9 debate on plans to revise Obamacare, there was one moment in particular that left us shaking our heads in dismay.

While discussing the Affordable Care Act's health insurance plan requirements, Democratic Rep. Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania asked Republican Rep. John Shimkus of Illinois which Obamacare mandates he had issues with. Shimkus responded by asking: "What about men having to purchase prenatal care?" As other committee members in the room began to noticeably stir, he continued, "I'm just . . . is that not correct? And should they?"

Obamacare does require insurance plans to cover both pregnancy and childbirth. But apparently this congressman is blissfully unaware of the fact that it takes two to tango — or should I say, to make a baby. So let's get this straight: the GOP doesn't want men to pay for prenatal care while simultaneously trying to curtail women's reproductive rights and access to contraception and abortion. Seems fair . . . Here's a deal, Mr. Shimkus. If you don't want to cover prenatal care, then we'll stop helping fund your Viagra.
