Will Hillary Clinton Run For Mayor of New York City?

Here's the Problem With Those Hillary Clinton NYC Mayor Rumors

After her shocking loss in the 2016 presidential election, many were left wondering what Hillary Clinton will do next. Rumors began circulating on conservative networks about Clinton's possible run for mayor in New York City and took off once Newsmax reported it. Although Clinton does have close ties to the state, having served as senator of New York from 2001 through 2009, a former top aid to Michael Bloomberg says the idea is unlikely to happen.

"The reality is that she's not going to, and all it does is further delay the thinking and plans of people who actually could run and win," Bradley Tusk told The New York Times. In an article for The Washington Post, DC reporter David Weigel criticized the rumors of Hillary running against the current Democratic mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, because "it evokes the Democrats' problem with elevating young talent in places where it can shine."

While it seems far-fetched that Clinton would run for mayor, her political legacy has already generated a new wave of interest from women looking to run for office.
