Jason Chaffetz Booed For Defending Trump

This Congressman Was Relentlessly Booed at a Town Hall For Going Too Easy on Trump

Republican Representative Jason Chaffetz was faced with quite the hostile crowd at a town hall meeting in his home state of Utah on Thursday. The House Oversight Committee chairman faced murmurs of approval and applause when he declared that it was "wrong, wrong, wrong" for Kellyanne Conway to promote Ivanka Trump's clothing line during an interview with Fox News. But things took a turn for the worse when he switched gears to discuss President Donald Trump himself.

"You're really not going to like this part: the President, under the law, is exempt from the conflict of interest laws," Chaffetz told the crowd. That's when things got pretty rowdy, as this statement sent the crowd into a total uproar. Despite Chaffetz repeating "hold on" and "give me a second," the crowd was relentless, not holding back their boos. Some even yelled "Do your job!" Chaffetz has come under fire for failing to push for deeper investigation into Trump's conflicts of interest, including his potential violations of the emoluments clause.
