Meryl Streep Calls Out Donald Trump at 2017 Golden Globes
Meryl Streep Preached the Damn Truth About Trump at the Golden Globes
When Meryl Streep took the stage at the 2017 Golden Globes to accept the Cecil B. DeMille Award, she chose not to discuss her own accomplishments. Rather, she used the opportunity to call out the president-elect.
Though the esteemed actress did not specifically name Donald Trump in her speech, we couldn't help but catch her drift as she spoke on topics like respect and diversity. "Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence," she explained passionately. Streep went on to highlight the importance of diversity in America and specifically in Hollywood. On foreign-born actors, she said, "If you kick 'em all out, you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts — which are not the arts."
We're impressed with how she called out Trump's wrongdoings in the classiest way possible, and the rest of the internet has taken note of Streep's on-point speech.
My favorite part of Meryl Streep's speech is that she never even spoke his name. #GoldenGlobes

#MerylStreep used her acceptance speech at the #GoldenGlobes to urge everyone to fight against the next 4 years. Pure class, defined.
