Bana and her mother Fatemah have called attention to life inside east Aleppo since joining Twitter in September. They previously posted a video begging First Lady Michelle Obama to help them and asked J.K. Rowling for help in getting Bana some Harry Potter books. The account has also posted photos of Bana hiding in her room and the destruction of their home.
Hours after Bana's family escaped Aleppo, they were flown by helicopter to Turkey, reports the BBC. Although Bana and her family are now safe, Fatemah tweeted a reminder that many other families are still in danger. "I can't and we can't all be happy until all the remaining people who want to leave are evacuated from East Aleppo."
