Ted Cruz has responded to a National Enquirer story accusing him of having affairs with five women. On Friday, the GOP presidential candidate posted on Facebook, saying the accusations are "garbage" — and that Donald Trump planted the story.

He echoed the same sentiments speaking at a campaign event in Wisconsin, according to Politico. "It is a tabloid smear, and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen," he said.

Also on Friday, one of the women suspected of the affair — Amanda Carpenter, his former communications director — denied the rumors after being confronted by a Trump supporter on CNN. This latest drama comes days after Donald Trump and Ted Cruz got into an argument over their wives on Twitter.
