Trevor Noah on the First Presidential Debate
Trevor Noah Hilariously Called Out the First Lie of Last Night's Debate
After Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton took the stage last night for the first presidential debate, Trevor Noah expertly made fun of all the night's absurdity. During the Daily Show segment, Noah hilariously pointed out what was probably the first lie of the debate — when Clinton said, "Donald, it's good to be with you." Noah said, "Ah, she's crooked, she's so crooked. The lies, Hillary!" He might be right, but the fact checkers didn't pick up on that moment.

The debate was loaded with contentious back-and-forth between the candidates, and Noah did not go easy on them in his analysis. In particular, he made a point of calling out Clinton for one of her lies (in addition to pointing out Trump's several lies). Clinton falsely claimed that the murder rate in New York City has been declining in recent years. Noah reacted, "By lying there, in a debate with Donald Trump, you gave him one thing where he was right. You might as well have said you think his hair looks good."
Near the end of the segment, Noah also expressed an important goal of The Daily Show in this election cycle. "We didn't watch the debate just to make fun of it. We wanted to do our part to keep the candidates honest," he said. We can't wait to see how he keeps the candidates on their toes in the next debate.
