The cameras in our iPhones are great, but it's easy to forget they can be this good. It's all in the photographer, and the winners of this year's iPhone Photography Awards prove it. For 12 years in a row, the IPPAWARDS have honored some of the most talented iPhone photographers all over the world, and yes, every photo was really shot on a handheld mobile device just like yours. Thousands of images were submitted by photographers from more than 140 countries, and the winners captured truly breathtaking stills.
"Each winner represents photography styles from travel, portraits, lifestyle, architecture, still life, and more, offering a window into the world," Apple said in a press release announcing the list of more than 70 winners. The following photos were taken on a range of phones, from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone X, which is pretty incredible. Take a look at the stunning photos that made the cut, along with the accompanying descriptions submitted by the artists, and you'll be inspired to up your own camera-roll game.
From the photographer: "Last year I spent a month in Wasa, Tanzania, teaching a class of young, curious, and amazing guys. Before heading back to Italy we stopped in Zanzibar, where this photo was taken. I still wonder how could I capture that exact moment in all its beauty. I was just observing, a few meters from them, but they were probably more curious about me than I was about them, and that's probably why the girl was looking at me."

On this particular afternoon, I captured these four neighbors engaged in a friendly game."

Location: Lobitos Beach, Peru

And it's as simple as it is mysterious."
