British (or English) golden retrievers have the long, feathery coats characteristic of the breed, but unlike Canadian and American golden retrievers, British golden retrievers usually have cream-colored coats, according to The Kennel Club. The coats on these long-haired golden retrievers can be flat or wavy but usually have plenty of feathering. The cream golden retriever, like any other golden, needs plenty of exercise, and a lack of it can cause undesired behavior as well as health issues. British goldens tend to be slightly smaller than the other two types of golden retrievers, with males typically measuring 22 to 24 inches in height and females an average of 20 to 22 inches.
