Anita Sarkeesian on The Colbert Report

GamerGate Is Attacks on Women, Says Anita Sarkeesian

The issue of GamerGate drew attention from Stephen Colbert this week when he welcomed Anita Sarkeesian, the video game critic behind Feminist Frequency to his show. Sarkeesian found herself at the middle of the GamerGate world earlier this month when she was forced to cancel a lecture at Utah State University after a threat was emailed to the school promising "the deadliest school shooting in American history" if she went through with her event.

In the segment Anita describes what GamerGate really is about — not ethics in gaming journalism, but women challenging the male domination of gaming culture. Many women who have spoken out about GamerGate have found themselves the target of online harassment and real-world threats, including Geek and Sundry founder, Felicia Day, whose personal email and home address were published after writing a blog post addressing the movement.
