Ellen Pao Trial

Why Ellen Pao Didn't Really Lose Silicon Valley's Biggest Trial

If you haven't heard of Ellen Pao, please keep reading. The interim Reddit CEO just waged a gender discrimination lawsuit against her former employer and one of the most powerful venture capital firms in Silicon Valley, CA: Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Pao alleged that the firm discriminated against her because she's a woman — for instance, women were excluded from a company dinner because they "kill the buzz" — and eventually fired her after she spoke out about it. The entire drama lasted throughout March and ended last week, when she lost on all counts. After the verdict, her supporters started a #ThankYouEllenPao hashtag, thanking her for speaking out in an industry where women often face sexism and are far too underrepresented. Pao also tweeted about the need for change.

Sadly, people who have no idea what they're talking about others took over the hashtag — we can't help but laugh at their misinformed comments.

But let's ignore them, shall we? Instead, we end this with powerful words from Pao herself.
