Trend Alert: Geometric Nail Art

Nail art is a regular occurrence on the red carpet, but we've been seeing stars sporting a variety of geometric nails as of late.

Nail art is a regular occurrence on the red carpet, but we've been seeing stars sporting a variety of geometric nails as of late. Demi Lovato showed off a black manicure accented with three metallic stripes over the weekend, while Kerry Washington paired her black polish with a white chevron tip to complement her dress at the recent Peeples premiere. January Jones also got into the graphic trend, sporting a classic red polish topped with a black triangle accent at the base of her nails for an edgier take on the moon manicure. We even saw geometric nails on the Fall 2013 runways, so clearly this trend is here to stay.

The fun wasn't over for the Met Gala 2013 attendees in NYC last night as they flocked to the Standard Hotel following the ball for the official afterparty at the Boom Boom Room. Madonna stripped out of her bum-baring Met Gala outfit and changed into a fishnet body stocking and black lacy lingerie to mingle with guests like Katy Perry, Allison Williams, and Frank Ocean. She wasn't the only star who made a costume change — Amanda Seyfried took off her gown and changed into a baggy black t-shirt to hit the dance floor with Frank. Meanwhile, Miranda Kerr met up with January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence arrived with Marion Cotillard, Gerard Butler mingled with Karolina Kurkova, andNicole Richie connected with Kirsten Dunst, and Mary-Kate Olsen snuggled with boyfriend Olivier Sarkozy. Mary-Kate and Olivier weren't the only couple at the late-night bash, as Jennifer Morrison was spotted holding hands with her Once Upon a Time costar Sebastian Stan and Kate Bosworth hugged Michael Polish. Who Rocked the Best Met Gala Mini?

The looks from last night's Met Gala were long on embellishments — we saw our fair share of grommets, studs, and safety pins in an homage to this year's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition.

The looks from last night's Met Gala were long on embellishments — we saw our fair share of grommets, studs, and safety pins in an homage to this year's Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition. But for some stars, it was also short on fabric. We tend to believe it's always a little punk to show up to a black-tie affair (at the nation's largest art museum, no less!) in something ultrashort, so we'd like to pay our respects to the five stars who rocked minidresses. Gisele Bündchen left little to the imagination in an asymmetrical Anthony Vaccarello metal-hook minidress. Stacy Keibler showed up in a studded black Rachel Roy mini with sheer panel sleeves, while Elizabeth Banks went with a menswear-inspired gold Atelier Versace dress. Kate Bosworth put her long legs on full display beneath a structured, pink-beaded Balmain number, and January Jones, ever the red carpet risk-taker, paired a bold Genevieve Jones ear cuff with a sequined LBD by Chanel. In the minidress melee, whose look do you like best?

January Jones and Jessica Paré met up with Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner for a chat about their onscreen relationship and, of course, Don Draper at the 92Y community center in NYC yesterday.

January Jones and Jessica Paré met up with Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner for a chat about their onscreen relationship and, of course, Don Draper at the 92Y community center in NYC yesterday. It was just the latest panel discussion for the Mad Men cast after they dropped by The Paley Center in NYC on Tuesday for a group talk with Brian Williams. We got a chance to chat with Jessica ahead of that panel; be sure to check out our Mad Men interview!

Jessica followed up yesterday's red carpet appearance with her first late-night talk show stop on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, which she admitted made her "terrified." During her chat with Jimmy, Jessica discussed her now-infamous song from the show's fifth season premiere, "Zou Bisou Bisou." She revealed that her mom has taken to singing the tune and reenacting the scene at various dinner parties, much to the embarrassment of Jessica.

The Mad Men Cast Joke About Historical Inaccuracies on Their Hit Show

The stars of Mad Men got together to discuss their hit show at The Paley Center for Media in NYC last night.

The stars of Mad Men got together to discuss their hit show at The Paley Center for Media in NYC last night. Jon Hamm, January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, and the rest of the cast sat down with show creator Matthew Weiner and moderator Brian Williams for a candid discussion about the new season. During the beginning of the panel, Brian joked with Matthew about an inaccuracy from Sunday's episode — don't forget to check out our Mad Men recap — where Joan, played by Christina Hendricks, said that she had made a reservation at Le Cirque, a real-life NYC restaurant that didn't exist in 1968, when the episode took place. Matthew laughed, "Christina Hendricks isn't here, but she ad-libbed that part." Brian also asked about another un-'60s moment when Don ordered an "Old Spanish," a made-up drink from 30 Rock, which Jon, Brian, and John Slattery have all guest-starred on. Matthew and Jon confirmed that the drink order was purely a nod to Tina Fey's former show. The event was the second big night out for the group this week after they attended a BAFTA celebration of Mad Men in the Big Apple on Monday. Stay tuned for our interview with the cast from the Paley Center panel!

Get January Jones's Topknot and Red Lips in Five Minutes

Let's face it: Wednesdays are rough.

Let's face it: Wednesdays are rough. By the middle of the week, getting yourself ready and out the door in a timely manner can be almost impossible. But January Jones showed off a gorgeous, and incredibly easy, hair and makeup pairing that can pull you out of your hump day rut. Her crimson lips and textured topknot can be done in five minutes or less:

  1. Start by spraying your hair with a dry shampoo, like Aveeno Active Naturals Pure Renewal Shampoo ($8), to soak up excess oil and add a healthy dose of texture. Then tease a one-inch section of hair right at the top of your forehead and roughly sweep it back.
  2. Pull your hair into a high ponytail and then twist your hair around the base. Secure with pins. The messier the better, so use your fingers to rough up the hair if you'd like.
  3. Line your lips with a red lip pencil, like Too Faced Perfect Lips Liner in Perfect Red ($17), before filling them in with the liner. Swipe your favorite matte red lipstick over it.
  4. Curl your lashes and add two coats of mascara to your top lashes and one coat to your bottom lashes. Now repeat: I just rolled out of bed like this!
