Leo's Star-Studded Auction Makes Millions For the Environment

Leonardo DiCaprio teamed up with Christie's to cohost the 11th Hour Auction in NYC last night.

Leonardo DiCaprio teamed up with Christie's to cohost the 11th Hour Auction in NYC last night. It was a successful event for Leo since the auction reportedly raised $35 million to benefit environmental and wildlife conservation efforts, almost doubling the goal of $18 million. He had the support of his longtime friend and Great Gatsby costar Tobey Maguire, who put in a winning bid on one of 33 pieces of contemporary art. Leo contributed something from his own art collection, a print called "Ocean V" by well-known photographer Andreas Gursky. Also out for the evening were Bradley Cooper, Mark Ruffalo, and Salma Hayek.

It was Leonardo's second art-inspired outing in as many days, since he also made an appearance at the Brant Foundation Art Study Center's Andy Warhol showing in Greenwich, CT, on Sunday. He'll be switching gears from art to film in the coming days, though, when he debuts The Great Gatsby in Cannes later this week.

Famous Ladies Spend the Night Before Oscars With Chanel

A few of the most fashionable celebrities in Hollywood turned out for Chanel's pre-Oscars dinner in LA last night.

A few of the most fashionable celebrities in Hollywood turned out for Chanel's pre-Oscars dinner in LA last night. Best actress nominee Jessica Chastain and Kate Bosworth wore Chanel dresses for the event, where they rubbed elbows with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Ginnifer Goodwin, January Jones, and Rachel Zoe.

Jessica walked the red carpet solo, but she raised plenty of eyebrows the previous night when she left the Women in Film pre-Oscars bash with boyfriend Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo. She has been notoriously tight-lipped about her romantic life, but it was revealed that Jessica Chastain's boyfriend has connections to the fashion industry: he's an executive at Moncler. However, Jessica will be taking her grandmother — not boyfriend Gian — to the Oscars, where she is up for the best actress prize. Don't forget to tune in to our LIVE Oscars red carpet coverage and viewing party starting tonight at 5:30 p.m. EST/2:30 p.m. PST.

Channing Tatum Flexes His Muscles on Set Following a Boys' Weekend

Channing Tatum and an almost unrecognizable Mark Ruffalo got to work filming Foxcatcher in Pittsburgh yesterday.

Channing Tatum and an almost unrecognizable Mark Ruffalo got to work filming Foxcatcher in Pittsburgh yesterday. The movie is based on the true story of the 1996 murder of wrestler David Schultz, played by Mark, and will also star Steve Carell. Channing recently said of the film, "It's going to be the hardest acting challenge I've had to date." He broke from the set over the weekend, though, to watch the Steelers take on the San Diego Chargers with a group of guy friends.

The year may be winding down, but Channing's staying busy, as he did for most of 2012. He hit the big screen with three successful releases, The Vow, Magic Mike, and 21 Jump Street, was crowned People's Sexiest Man Alive, opened the New Orleans bar Saints & Sinners, and filmed White House Down. His run isn't over yet, since he could still pick up the favorite male and sexiest man titles in our Best of 2012 polls!

Now You See Me Trailer: Jesse Eisenberg's Got the Magic Touch

Hollywood has seen its share of movies about magicians, but a movie about magicians who are also bank robbers?

Hollywood has seen its share of movies about magicians, but a movie about magicians who are also bank robbers? Now that's something new. In the trailer for Now You See Me, Jesse Eisenberg's character leads a group of illusionists (including Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, and Dave Franco) in a grand showcase of their talents — and let's just say they've got a lot more than card tricks in their bag. In a Robin Hood-esque turn, the team successfully manages to rob a bank during the show and showers the audience in money. Not everyone is impressed, though, and a couple of FBI agents (Mark Ruffalo and Mélanie Laurent) are determined to take them down.

The trailer is fresh and different enough to get me excited about this movie, especially since it features some of my favorite underrated actors (along with ones we all know and love). I'm also glad to see Eisenberg playing something other than the twitchy geek we've seen him play so many times before, and he actually appears to be pulling off cockiness here. The film hits theaters next Summer, but check out the trailer when you read more

Keira Knightley's been busy over the past few days on the NYC set of her romantic comedy, Can a Song Save Your Life? Two weeks ago, we saw Keira in character and holding hands with Maroon 5's Adam Levine, but last Thursday, she was spotted kissing costar Mark Ruffalo. The pair were at it once again on Friday shooting a scene with instruments. Keira was before the cameras again today, seeming to be having a great time with the cast and crew. Keira's good mood could have something to do with her upcoming wedding — a new report says Keira's fiancé, James Righton, is like a "lovestruck puppy" when she's around.

Keira Knightley Gets Down to Work With Mark Ruffalo and Hailee Steinfeld

Keira Knightley had a busy afternoon on the set of Can a Song Save Your Life?

Keira Knightley had a busy afternoon on the set of Can a Song Save Your Life? yesterday in NYC. She had an outfit change for two different scenes with costar Mark Ruffalo. Mark was her leading man this time around, but last week, Keira shot alongside Adam Levine. Young actress Hailee Steinfeld was on set, too, sporting three different ensembles for her own stint in front of the camera with Mark.

Keira's been busy with work since announcing her engagement to Klaxons musician James Righton in late May. Last month was a whirlwind of promotion for her Seeking a Friend For the End of the World, in which she starred opposite of Steve Carell. James, though, has been able to visit with Keira in the Big Apple. Keira and James showed PDA when he visited her in NYC recently.

The Avengers: Assemble For Awesomeness

Ensemble romantic comedies are a dime a dozen these days, and let's face it: most of those star-studded flicks aren't even that good.

Ensemble romantic comedies are a dime a dozen these days, and let's face it: most of those star-studded flicks aren't even that good. But an ensemble superhero movie? Now that's an idea I can get behind. The Avengers rounds up an all-star group of comic book heroes who must get over their inflated egos and differences to take down a villain and save the world. It's a simple enough concept, and the combination of eye-popping special effects, humor, and a stellar cast makes for one hell of a blockbuster movie.

The cast of characters — and each one is very much a character in their own right — is mostly composed of people you've seen before and are happy to welcome back. There's Chris Evans as Captain America, whose situation as a '50s guy living in a 2012 world is funny to the audience, if not to him. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Iron Man, and his wisecracks and borderline obnoxious behavior carry the film and much of the dialogue; Chris Hemsworth is back as demigod Thor, though his role feels a bit downplayed in the midst of the rest of the hubbub. Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner return as Nick Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who kick butt but are never really as much fun as their power-wielding cohorts. The only guy who's new to the group is Mark Ruffalo, who takes on the role of Bruce Banner (aka The Hulk) for the first time, and Ruffalo's so quietly engaging that you won't even remember Eric Bana or Edward Norton in the role.
