This year is officially the year of the unicorn. Well, at least in the world of foodies it is. So how did such a phenomenon come to pass? These recipes and their viral reception had a lot to do with it. That and Lisa Frank. The little unicorn cookie that started it all back in 2012! The owner of Sweet Insanity Bake Shop invented the idea of "unicorn sneezes," but it was her mom who inspired her to call the cookie by its now-trademarked name.

Fluffë, an artisanal cotton candy maker out of Australia, released Unicorn Poop Floss early last year and topped it over "unicorn milk." This unleashed lots of recipes here in the States, including My Cupcake Addiction's rainbow milkshake and Bethcakes's unicorn bark milkshake.

"If ever there was a recipe designed to make you happy, this is it," the blogger behind Cookies and Cups claims, adding, "It’s the middle of January and I need a little magic."
