Fourteen years ago, on Feb. 2, 2002, a Latina became a real-life princess. Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti, an economist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, met then-Prince Alexander-Willem of The Netherlands at the Seville Spring Fair in Spain in 1999, fell in love, and got engaged in a whirlwind relationship that was certainly not without barriers — Máxima's father's connection to the dictatorship that ruled Argentina in the 1970s was cause for controversy and led to his absence at the wedding.

But through thick and thin, from the moment Máxima stepped out of a horse-drawn carriage in a cowl-neck long-sleeved Valentino wedding gown featuring lace details and a 16-foot train, the love between the cutest and happiest royal couple (we're going there; photos prove it) has been palpable in every official appearance and family photo with their three daughters. In honor of the king and queen's anniversary, we're taking a look back at the moment that started it all.
