Hair Wipes Are a Thing — and, My God, Do They Make Life Easier

As someone who is very into hair care and likely uses at least four products at once, I have one gripe: lugging those products around. Unlike makeup — which is small and compact — hair products are bulky and heavy. And not all of the good ones come in travel sizes. Who really want a giant bottle of hairspray rolling around in their purse?

I am personally psyched about the latest trend: hair wipes. Unlike skincare wipes, these are not necessarily about cleaning but rather about styling. And many come in individual packets that fit into even the smallest bags. So they're a great option for wedding clutches, travel cases, or even your pocket!

While the category is fairly new, a bunch of top brands already launched hair wipes. Keep reading to learn about and shop some of my favorites.

Ouai Anti-Frizz Hair Sheets

Ouai Anti-Frizz Hair Sheets

I'm ouai into these newbies from Jen Atkin's brand (sorry, had to). The celebrity stylist got it so, so right when she recently launched the Ouai Anti-Frizz Hair Sheets ($18).

First, the packaging looks like a cigarette case — which goes with the brand's French girl vibe. Each packet contains an individual wipe that fixes frizz and flyaways. That said, I successfully used it to help reshape my waves when I was in the humid Floridian climate.

The eco-friendly paper towelettes are infused with coconut oil and shea butter, both known for having smoothing, shine-enhancing benefits. It's fine to apply these from roots to ends, as the formula won't weigh your hair down. Like other Ouai products, expect a gorgeous fragrance featuring violet, gardenia, ylang ylang, and white musk.

Kérastase Carré Lissant

Kérastase Carré Lissant

Kérastase was one of the first brands to launch hair wipes via its Carré Lissant ($29), a pack of antifrizz smoothing sheets housed in a portable tissue-like case. These static-fighting papers are perfect for dealing with hat hair or pesky flyaways around your ears and part. One reviewer noted she likes to use them on hair that has been flatironed. The formula features a light wax complex, scented like a mix of grapefruit, rose petals, pear, lychee, patchouli, amber, and white musk.

IGK Swipe Up Charcoal Dry Shampoo Hair Blotting Tissues

The IGK Swipe Up Charcoal Dry Shampoo Hair Blotting Tissues ($18) are the smallest packets of the bunch! When I said this form of hair care can fit into your pocket (and I'm talking about the one on skinny jeans!), I was referring to this little guy.

I also tested these on my natural curls in Florida, where it's decently humid. They successfully helped to give my waves a smoother texture and help eliminate frizz. The formula contains activated black charcoal powder, which helps absorb the bad kind of oil. It also features avocado and camellia oil to block static. Plus, they protect hair from UV rays, making them a great pick for the beach.

Nunzio Saviano Dry Shampoo Blotting Sheets

Nunzio Saviano Dry Shampoo Blotting Sheets

Like blotting papers for the face, the Nunzio Saviano Dry Shampoo Blotting Sheets ($24) feature oil-absorbent rice paper. You can use them directly on your scalp as you would dry shampoo without needing to deal with a spray, bottle, or powder. They also won't weight hair down or create a sticky feeling like some traditional dry shampoos do. NYC stylist Nunzio Saviano (who owns his eponymous salon) said he created them for clients who love the idea of dry shampoo but dislike the heavy feel of it. It is recommended to brush your hair after using these wipes.

Eva NYC Purse Perfect Hair Towelettes

Eva NYC Purse Perfect Hair Towelettes

Swap your hair oil for the Eva NYC Purse Perfect Hair Towelettes ($8) since they contain argan oil, as well as shine-enhancing vitamin C. These babies give strands a smoothed, glossy look — which makes them great to use on curls or a sleek updo. Insider tip: apply the formula from midlengths to ends, avoiding roots (which could get greasy). The wipes can also be used on damp or dry hair.
