Summer's "Coconut Candy" Hair-Color Trend Looks as Good as It Sounds
The only thing sweeter than Rosé, beach days, and iced coffee, is the "coconut candy" hair color trend for summer. This bright and fun blond-with-a-twist color combines some of our favorite hair trends from the past year — money piece highlights, blond hues, and balayage — for one summer style.
Without even realizing it, you've probably spotted the "coconut candy" hair color trend on your Instagram feed and TikTok For You page as more people go lighter for summer. "The intense face-framing highlights are making this super trendy right now," Karissa Schaudt, a colorist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, told POPSUGAR. "It's best for brunette to blonds, and works on any hair texture."
This hair color is different from your typical blond hue. For one, it's on the cooler side rather than warm, like the golden honey-blond color.
In addition to that, "It's done as a partial highlight and achieved without purchasing a toner," said Schaudt. "This one allows the natural pigment to come through." To get the look, next time you're at the salon ask your colorist to foil your hairline to create that intense, bright blond color around your face. Then, from the ears to the nape of the neck, use balayage for contrast.
Earlier this week, Tia Mowry was rocking the color — just in case you needed more proof that this is the shade to try this season. Keep scrolling to see more iterations of the "coconut candy" hair color trend.
