PS: Everyone on PLL has the best waves. How do you get your hair styled for the show?
LH: Really, we just have great hair people. My trick is that I wrap [the hair] around the curling iron. I never use the clamp and that gives it the natural, beachy wave. One of my hairdressers uses a straightener to curl my hair. [The result] looks like it's your natural texture. He uses a Chi flat iron for my hair. I also live by dry shampoo, because I hate washing my hair. I'll wash it like twice a week. Oscar Blandi, Serge Normant, Suave, and Dove make really good dry shampoos.
PS: For those of us who are hopelessly addicted to PLL, should we be wearing waterproof mascara for the Christmas special?
LH: It is an intense episode. It's also a really beautiful episode; visually the costumes are great. There's lots of fake snow everywhere, and it takes place at the Ice Ball. It's really dramatic as well — I think you should always have tissues when you're watching the show. There are a few things that go down that will tie a few stories together. The girls are also still dealing with the death of Mona. That came as a huge shock to everyone, so they're facing the repercussions of that.
PS: We remember when you made your debut on American Juniors. How has your beauty look evolved over the years?
LH: Well, hopefully my fashion choices have gotten better. I got my braces off, my brows are better than they were then . . . I started working consistently since then. I maintained my love of music, and I found my love of acting along the way. I have artistically grown, and I have also just grown up. That was 11 years ago. What is so cool is that I still love it just as much as I loved it then.
PS: What is the best beauty advice you have ever been given?
LH: It's kind of cliché, and you've heard it before, but accept your flaws and support the things that make you different. Some of the most beautiful girls to me have something that's a little bit unique. So I think just own it, embrace those things. If you have big eyebrows, flaunt them. If you have a gap in your teeth, own it.
