This Medium-Coverage Concealer Feels Like a Second Skin

Concealer and mascara are two of the most-used products in my makeup bag. Even on the busiest of days, if I have a meeting or am going somewhere, I still will likely take two seconds to put a little of both on. Mascaras are easy for me to love, but I'm a bit pickier when it comes to concealers. Yet, the Tula Radiant Skin Brightening Serum Concealer ($32), launching July 31, was an instant match for my routine.

My makeup style is self-described as minimal, easy, and natural-looking. I prefer lightweight, glowy finishes that feel untraceable. That said, I still want to cover up the dark circles under my eyes and the blemishes on my chin. It's a tall order for a concealer, but Tula's new formula pulls it off and then some.

The skin care and makeup hybrid product is an extension of the brand's Radiant Skin line, which houses the Brightening Serum Skin Tint Broad Spectrum SPF 30 — another favorite of mine. Staying true to Tula's ethos, despite being a makeup product, it's packed with ingredients traditionally found in skin care. Not only does it provide immediate results, but it works to improve your complexion over time. What more could you want in a base product?

There's a lot to love about the Tula Radiant Skin Brightening Serum Concealer, from the formula itself to the results it provides. It may be categorized as a makeup product, but it's packed with great skin-care ingredients. Rainbow seaweed and niacinamide help brighten skin while protecting it from free radicals and pollution. Meanwhile, peptides and tea-leaf caffeine help with dark circles and undereye bags.

The silky, serum-packed consistency blends with minimal effort, giving you a flawless, natural-looking finish that camouflages blemishes while feeling like second skin. Even in the heat of summer, it feels weightless. I found shade 120, a light neutral hue, to be a perfect match for my skin tone.

The Tula Radiant Skin Brightening Serum Concealer comes in a tube with a doe-foot applicator. This makes strategically dabbing it onto dark spots and circles easy. I switch between using a brush and a damp makeup sponge to blend it in, depending on my mood. Both work great, but the brush provides fuller coverage while the sponge thins it out a bit more.

If I'm looking to completely hide a highly textured, discolored area, like a pimple, I use the "marinating" makeup technique to get slightly thicker coverage. Then, I lock everything in with a setting powder. I've used the concealer alone and on top of the Brightening Serum Skin Tint — both options wear great.

The Tula Radiant Skin Brightening Serum Concealer is a great option for anyone looking for natural-looking light-to-medium coverage. However, in my personal experience, the formula is a bit sheerer than most of its full-coverage counterparts on the market. If you're someone with a lot of texture that you want to camouflage, you may want to seek a thicker formula.

After wearing it for a few hours, I did start to notice some creasing under my eyes and around my mouth, but setting powder helped with this.
