In an interview with Wild 94.1's The Nuthouse in 2018, Mikey explained how he and Scootie just fell into working with each other, even though that hadn't been a specific intention when they both began working with the same collective of musicians.

"The chemistry was good, our songs came out pretty well, and people started wanting some music from us," he said, citing that creative connection and fan support as reasons they branched out into making music of their own, rather than just continuing to write for bigger names.

Mikey and his Social House partner, Scootie, originally came to Los Angeles after growing up in Pittsburgh. According to a Billboard interview in 2015, they barely knew each other at the time, but both moved in with a musician collective and began working together, with the shared goal of "understanding more about music."
