The energy kicked up even higher once the show started. One Direction won the first award of the night, and they even gave a shout-out to Zayn Malik in their acceptance speech.
Can we talk about all the couples from the night, though? Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris shared a supersweet moment before she took the stage, and Britney Spears made her first red carpet appearance with new beau Charlie Ebersol.
Oh, and what's the deal with Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart? They looked pretty cozy together in the audience.
