Less than a month after splitting from Jonas, Hadid appeared to move on with the former One Direction band member. After much speculation, Malik finally put rumors to rest by nonchalantly confirming his relationship with the model on Instagram in December 2015. During their time together, the duo were not shy about flaunting their love. They were even featured in their own PDA-filled Vogue spread and made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May 2016.
After dating on and off again for over three years, the two parted ways in January 2019, but they rekindled their romance during the holidays later that year. During their reconcilation, the pair welcomed daughter Khai Hadid Malik in September 2020. However, their relationship eventually came to an end in October 2021 after Malik allegedly "struck" Hadid's mother, Yolanda. Both Hadid and Malik released statements addressing the reported incident.
"In an effort to protect that space for [Khai] I agreed not to contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago," Malik wrote in his statement, referencing their daughter. In a second statement to TMZ, he added, "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private."
A rep from Hadid's team released a statement to E! News about the allegations, saying, "Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time." Since then, Hadid and Malik have been focused on coparenting their daughter.
