Barack and Michelle Obama hosted their last state dinner as president and first lady of the United States with the Italian prime minister and his wife on Tuesday night, and it was full of adorable moments between the couple. Although Barack and Michelle regularly make us swoon, we couldn't help but notice that they still look at each other just as lovingly as they did while hosting their first state dinner together back in 2009. Whether they're joking around with the guests of honor or sneaking in a few giggles between photographs, these side-by-side photos of their first and last state dinners prove that POTUS and FLOTUS's relationship has only gotten better with age.

Barack couldn't help but beam at Michelle before greeting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife, Gursharan Kaur, in 2009.

Before the Italian prime minister arrived at the 2016 state dinner, Michelle and Barack exchanged matching grins.

Barack and Michelle helped their guests inside from the North Portico of the White House in 2009.

The group made their way inside to the soirée in 2016, which included a menu prepared by celebrity chef Mario Batali and a guest list full of celebrity couples, including Jerry Seinfeld and his wife and Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

With members of the military standing guard, the new president and first lady looked crazy in love in 2009.

Seven years later, Barack still looks at his wife with the same level of awe.
