When Pete was 17 or 18, he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract. He would use marijuana as a way to cope with the pain but eventually checked into a rehabilitation program in December 2016, after experiencing mental breakdowns. During an appearance on the WTF With Marc Maron podcast in September 2017, Pete revealed that his symptoms were actually a result of borderline personality disorder, for which he is currently being treated.
