Language Was an Important Part of Her Upbringing

Her father is 100 percent Mexican, but he is not fluent in Spanish. Meanwhile, her mother deeply cared about Ortega and her siblings speaking Spanish, so she would speak to the children in Spanish. Ortega's father, however, could not understand what they were saying, and it became an interesting family dynamic.
